Overview

The Ouzoud Waterfalls are the highest in North Africa and one of Morocco’s most spectacular natural sites. Spend a day surrounded by nature: walk down to the base of the falls, meet the wild Barbary macaques that live in the olive groves, take a boat ride and enjoy lunch with a view over the valley. The name Ouzoud comes from the Amazigh word for “grinding grain”, a reminder of the old mills still visible along the river.

Itinerary

Your driver picks you up from your hotel at 8:00 for the drive to Ouzoud, with a coffee stop on the way. Your driver shares local stories along the road, making the journey part of the experience.

On arrival, walk through the small village of Ouzoud and down the stairs past souvenir shops and cafés. Just before the stairs, you get your first view of the waterfalls – a real paradise. A short but more challenging path leads to the base of the falls, with fantastic views and more encounters with the macaques. You can relax, swim in the pools when the season allows, or take one of the small boats to get close to the cascades.

Several restaurants with spectacular views are available for lunch. In the afternoon, drive back to Marrakech and drop-off at your accommodation.
